Information about Sound Baths
What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a structured, immersive relaxation experience designed to support deep rest and stress reduction.
Participants lie comfortably in a quiet space while a sequence of carefully selected sounds from low-frequency instruments, resonant tones, and gentle harmonic vibrations—are introduced in a deliberate and unhurried way.
Rather than requiring any effort or participation, the experience allows your nervous system to settle.
The steady, non-intrusive soundscape helps quieten cognitive noise, soften physical tension, and create the conditions for calmness.
Many people describe a shift from persistent alertness into a state of restorative rest.
A sound bath offers a rare opportunity to disengage from problem-solving and external demands.
It is not about “healing” or treatment, but about creating space for emotional and physiological down-regulation and recovery.
The aim is simple:
To support balance, resilience, and wellbeing by allowing the body and mind to reset—gently, safely, and without expectation.

Who can attend a Sound Bath?
Anyone can attend.
If you feel you could do with some calm down-time then it's for you!
You are welcome to invite your partner or friends.
Children over 16 are welcome.

How should I prepare for a Sound Bath?
Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie on during the session.
Personally I find a yoga mat a bit thin for true comfort for a whole hour and so I use a folded blanket or doona.
Bring whatever you need to be comfortable - blankets/ pillow/ water. Some people bring inflatable beds!

What if I need to move or go to the bathroom?
Of course you can move if you need to.
Sometimes we need to change position in order to be comfortable.
I recommend lying down to maximise relaxation but if you prefer to sit thats's fine too. We just ask that you are mindful of others around you and try to create as little disturbance as possible.
There is always a bathroom avaialble.

Is prior experience needed?
Absolutely not. You will not be asked to do anything you have not done before - ie lie down and get comfortable!
Just come ready to relax and enjoy the experience.

How long is a Sound Bath?
